Guard Your Wallet and Build a Security Barrier | SEM Holds Special Lecture on Financial Fraud Prevention

On the afternoon of December 18, 2025, Lecture Hall 8 on the Hexi Campus was packed. The special lecture entitled “Analysis and Prevention of Financial Fraud”, hosted by the Investment Association of the School of Economics and Management and delivered by professional instructors from Industrial Securities, was held here. All students of the Investment Program from the 2023 to 2025 cohorts and some other students from the School of Economics and Management attended the event. Attendance of this activity was recorded in the assessment of labor education practice.

Dissect New Fraud Features from a Professional Perspective

The lecture focused on telecom and online financial fraud, a high-incidence risk on campus. The guest instructor thoroughly analyzed four major characteristics: concealment featured by non-contact nature and difficulty in traceability; complexity marked by a wide range of victims, innovative tactics and financialized schemes; industrialized operation with sophisticated routines; and information leakage, the key source breeding fraud. Through typical campus telecom fraud cases such as the Xu Yuyu case, students gained a profound understanding of the harm of fraud and the urgency of prevention.

Simulate Real Scenarios to Improve Practical Response Capabilities

“What should you do if you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be a police officer and asking you to transfer money?” “How to identify fake investment platforms?” With immersive scenario simulation, the instructor guided students to conduct on-site drills. The interactive session was lively. Students gradually mastered the golden rule of “Three Nos and Three Yes”: do not trust, disclose or transfer money; verify, stay alert and seek help. Theoretical knowledge was translated into practical protection capabilities.

University-Enterprise Collaborative Education to Enhance Financial Literacy

This activity serves as an important practice of the “Investor Education in Hundred Universities” initiative. The introduction of professional resources from Industrial Securities builds a bridge connecting classroom learning with the industry. It functions both as a safety education session and a general course on financial literacy, embodying the innovative model of university-enterprise collaborative talent cultivation.

Meticulous Preparation Demonstrates the Association’s Responsibility

As the organizer, the Investment Association delivered outstanding performance from promotion and planning to on-site management. Standard on-site arrangement and well-organized procedures guaranteed the good outcome of the lecture. Students listened attentively and interacted actively, demonstrating the professionalism and sense of responsibility of investment majors.

In the era of digital economy, awareness of financial security has become an essential skill for college students. This lecture has not only inspired students to develop rational understanding of the financial market from a professional perspective, but also consolidated their line of defense for financial security. Although the activity has concluded, reflections and practices on safeguarding personal wealth will continue to deepen in every student’s study and daily life.

The financial fraud prevention lecture was successfully concluded. It sounded the alarm for university students against telecom and online fraud. With professional analysis and immersive drills, participants kept the golden rule of “Three Nos and Three Yes” firmly in mind. The innovative university-society collaborative model bridges theory and practice, helping students improve financial literacy and establish rational investment concepts.

Financial security is no trivial matter, and wealth protection is a long-term task.
