School of Economics and Management Holds Series of Seminars on Implementing the OBE Concept (International Economics and Trade Chapter) ——Deepen the OBE Concept and Innovate Talent Cultivation Paths
To thoroughly implement the spirit of higher education reform in the new era and actively meet the requirements of engineering education accreditation and New Humanities and Social Sciences development, the Teaching and Research Section for International Economics and Trade of the School of Economics and Management recently held a special seminar themed “Practice and Exploration of the OBE Concept in the Teaching of the International Economics and Trade Program”. All faculty members of the section carried out in-depth exchanges and brainstorming on the core connotation, implementation paths and evaluation mechanisms of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). The seminar aims to further clarify ideas for program development, promote systematic transformation of the talent training model, and comprehensively improve the talent training quality of the International Economics and Trade Program.
The special seminar lasted more than two hours with substantial content, thorough discussions and remarkable outcomes. Through collective study and discussion, all faculty have reached a new level of understanding of the OBE concept, gained a more thorough grasp of the OBE-oriented design logic of the talent training program, and formed broad consensus on priorities for the next phase of teaching reform.
Participants deeply recognized that implementing OBE represents a profound revolution in education and teaching, which requires every teacher to renew teaching philosophies and transform teaching behaviors. It requires teachers to shift from the traditional role of mere knowledge transmitters to facilitators, designers and evaluators of student learning. The challenges should not be underestimated, yet its significance for lifting talent cultivation quality is far-reaching.
In his closing summary, the Director of the Teaching and Research Section stated that this seminar marks a new starting point. Moving forward, guided by the consensus formed at the seminar, the Teaching and Research Section for International Economics and Trade will carry out a series of work continuously: first, organize faculty to conduct in-depth research on OBE-related theories and excellent cases to strengthen theoretical awareness; second, comprehensively revise course syllabi by course groups to ensure that teaching objectives, contents, methods and assessments of every course are closely linked with graduation requirements; third, explore the establishment of a more scientific and convenient mechanism for evaluating and analyzing the achievement of course objectives; fourth, strengthen university-enterprise cooperation to more effectively integrate cutting-edge industrial trends and real-world demands into the whole teaching process.
All faculty firmly believe that by adhering to the core philosophy of “student-centered, outcome-oriented and continuously improved”, pooling efforts and making solid progress, we will surely elevate the talent training quality of the International Economics and Trade Program to a new level. More outstanding economic and trade talents with both moral integrity and professional competence will be cultivated to serve national strategies and regional economic development, writing a distinctive chapter of progress for the program amid the wave of higher education reform in the new era.
