School of Economics and Management Holds Series of Seminars on Implementing the OBE Concept (Big Data Management and Application Chapter)

To better implement the OBE concept, explore teaching reforms, enhance the teaching competence of faculty in the big data program, and cultivate qualified talents meeting social demands, the Department of Big Data Management and Application organized a teaching research activity on January 8, 2026. The event featured study and discussions themed “Exploring Teaching Reform under the Guidance of the OBE Concept”.

Presided over by Zhang Jun, Director of the Teaching Research Section, the seminar helped faculty gain an in-depth understanding of the core content of OBE (Outcome-Based Education). Centered on outcome-based education, teaching is designed around what students are ultimately able to accomplish to ensure they acquire practical capabilities. For example, the Big Data Program may set the objective of “independently completing a data cleaning project”, which is then broken down into curriculum modules such as Python programming and data governance.

Under the guidance of Zhang Jun, all faculty members read and studied the 2025 talent training program for the Big Data Management and Application Program, focusing on program training objectives and graduation requirements. Afterwards, all teachers held discussions around the following three questions: (1) Insights gained from studying the 2025 talent training program, including program training objectives and curriculum system; (2) The position of each teacher’s course within professional training, how the course supports training objectives, the achievement status of the course objectives they are responsible for, and corresponding improvement measures; (3) Opportunities and challenges facing program development, and ways to address them.

All faculty agreed that implementing the OBE concept helps advance student-centered talent cultivation, further promotes program reform, and facilitates more proactive and pragmatic university-enterprise cooperation. Teachers’ in-depth understanding of the training program also supports better guidance for students, and teaching objectives will become clearer in future instruction.
